The formula system of vitrified bond grinding wheel mainly includes abrasive, binder, auxiliary materials and other aspects.

Abrasive: It is the main component of vitrified grinding wheel and determines the cutting performance of the grinding wheel. Commonly used abrasives include diamond, cubic boron nitride (CBN), silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc. Different materials and processes require different abrasives.
Binder: It is a substance that bonds abrasive and auxiliary materials together, which determines the strength and durability of the grinding wheel. Different binders have different refractories and molding temperatures.
Auxiliary materials: It is a substance added to improve the performance of vitrified grinding wheels, including reinforcing agents, pore formers, lubricants, etc. Reinforcing agents can improve the strength and toughness of vitrified binders, and commonly used ones include cellulose and glass fiber. Pore formers can increase the pores in vitrified binders and improve their conductivity and heat dissipation. Commonly used ones include wood powder and carbon black. Lubricants can reduce the friction between vitrified binders and molds and improve their molding performance. Commonly used ones include calcium stearate, etc.
Pores: voids in the ceramic binder that affect the density and conductivity of the ceramic binder. Pores can be generated by pore-forming agents or during the molding process, and generally occupy 10% to 30% of the volume. Pores can improve the heat dissipation and self-sharpening properties of the ceramic binder, but too many pores will reduce its strength and durability.
The formula analysis of ceramic bond grinding wheels is a comprehensive analysis, using modern analytical equipment such as SEM-EDS, XRD, infrared, TG-DSC, XRF, ICP, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and wet chemical analysis to make a comprehensive judgment. Through formula analysis, more than 90% of the formula information can be provided to R&D personnel, saving more than 80% of the R&D costs and indicating the direction of new product development.
